Our Story

Radianice was born in the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon, in a small studio surrounded by bolts of Belgian linen, organic cotton, and Pacific Northwest-inspired textures. Our founder, Clara Whitmore, started making clothes for friends and family after years of frustration with fast fashion — garments that fell apart after a season, fabrics that felt synthetic and uncomfortable, designs that prioritized trend over longevity.

Clara's vision was simple but radical: create clothing that people would actually keep. Pieces that would be worn weekly, not weekly and forgotten. Clothes that told a story — of careful hands, considered materials, and a love for the craft of making things well.

What started as weekend sewing sessions in a converted garage grew quickly into something far larger than Clara had imagined. Friends of friends placed orders. A local boutique asked to carry a few pieces. And then, in 2019, Radianice officially launched as a brand — one that would carry the values of its humble beginnings into every single stitch.

Our Mission

At Radianice, our mission is to create clothing that earns a permanent place in your wardrobe. We believe that truly sustainable fashion isn't about buying less of something bad — it's about investing in fewer pieces that are genuinely excellent. Our clothes are designed to look better with age, to adapt across seasons, and to become the pieces you reach for instinctively because they fit perfectly and feel like second skin.

Every decision we make — from the mills we source from, to the packaging we ship in, to the artisans we partner with — is guided by this core belief: quality is the most sustainable choice you can make.

What We Believe In

Natural Fabrics First

We work exclusively with natural and sustainably-certified materials. Our linen comes from MASTERS-certified Belgian mills. Our cotton is GOTS-certified organic. Our wool and cashmere blends are sourced from Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified farms. We never use synthetic fibers in our primary garments — not because synthetics are always bad, but because natural fabrics simply feel, age, and perform better for the everyday clothing we make.

Small-Batch Production

We produce our collections in small batches, working with family-owned production partners in Portland and the surrounding Pacific Northwest region. Small-batch production lets us maintain quality control at every step, reduce waste dramatically, and build genuine relationships with the people who make our clothes. Our production partners are paid living wages, work in safe and respectful environments, and have been with us since our earliest days.

Transparent Pricing

We believe you deserve to know what you're paying for. Our prices reflect the true cost of quality materials, fair labor, sustainable packaging, and the time it takes to make something well. We're not the cheapest option — and we're proud of that. Cheap clothing has a cost that's just paid elsewhere: by underpaid workers, by the environment, or by you when the garment falls apart after three washes.

Designed for Real Life

Our design philosophy is guided by a single question: will someone still want to wear this in five years? We don't chase micro-trends or produce seasonal throwaway pieces. Every item in our collection is designed to be versatile across occasions and seasons, to pair easily with other pieces in your wardrobe, and to age gracefully — becoming softer, more comfortable, and more distinctly yours with every wear and wash.

Our Team

Radianice is a small, passionate team based in Portland. Clara continues to lead design and creative direction. She's joined by our production manager, Thomas Reed, who oversees quality control and our relationships with production partners; our operations lead, Mei-Lin Park, who handles fulfillment and ensures every order leaves our facility with care; and our customer care team, who genuinely love helping customers find the right fit and style.

We're a team of people who love clothes — not as status symbols or disposable fashion statements, but as daily tools for self-expression and comfort. We wear our own products every day, and that personal investment shows in everything we do.
